Medical Billers needed! Do you have previous experience in billing? Do you have a keen eye for detail? Can you multitask? Our medical client in Flint is looking to add a full time Billing Specialist to their team. The Billing Specialist will be responsible for coordinating insurance and billing related activities. This will be a Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm. Pay will be based on experience ($13-$15/hr).

Responsibilities:

• Enter charges accurately and expeditiously to ensure proper records handling and fast payment responses
• Initiate private pay collections after insurance cancellation, denial or other issues
• Obtaining referrals, and transmitting claims using pre-authorizations as well as eligibility and verification of benefit when required
• Follow-up on any unpaid claims within standard billing time frame
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
• Check insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
• Look into claims that have been denied and research how to modify the claim to insure it is processed correctly at maximum reimbursement
• Maintain complete knowledge and understanding of all reimbursement requirements for assigned payer as well as general knowledge for outside payers.
• Liaise between payers/provider representatives when necessary.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of six months in medical related field and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Must be proficient with computers and have strong typing skills
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and pide in all units of measure using a calculator
